Micropedia Addition

I have an addition for the micropedia list. I am a huge fan of the Harrington & Richardson Self Loading pistols.

I own the 25 cal version, but it was made in 32 as well.

When H&R decided to enter the auto market they contracted a Webley & Scott designer who pretty much copied one of their pistols.

The gun was wildly unsuccessful like the original but it occupies a great little spot in history.

Forum: Microguns

I wanted to say hello to everyone, I'm new to the site but have a good collection of microguns.
I have a huge affinity for the small 25 auto's. They have history; are affordable and the engineering is outstanding.

I'll get to a full list with pictures in the next day or so but again thanks for keeping a site like this together and I hope to visit often.

Forum: Microguns

OD framed G19

My son presented me this last week when I was home on leave. Its a OD Green framed G19 with tritium night sights. On the left side of the slide is engraved with the Special Forces Crest (I'm retired SF and he's active duty SF with one of my old Groups) These were an 10th Special Forces Unit deal that his team did (he got a G30 with the crest). He also knows that I am not a Glock fanatic but understand that they are a realiable tool. (I prefer 1911s and Smith revolvers). We also served in Iraq in 04 together and just missed him last year in Iraq as I went north to Afghanistan.

This all started when we were both deployed last year (me in Astan/him in Iraq) and I told him that he's getting my old Smith 29-2 .44 Mag 6.5" (I'm a .41 Mag nut). Then my youngest son got my old CZ75 (he already inherited the CZ83)

CD

Forum: Rifles, Shotguns & Full Size Handguns

New Smith 442 Pro Series Report

Hello everyone. Finally was able to get my meat hooks on a new 442 Pro Series. I had ordered a standard 442 no lock directly from Smith after Christmas on a 40% off MSRP military sale. About two months later I changed my order to the new Pro Series. Now the 442/642 Pro Series have the rear of the cyclinder cut for TK Custom moon clips. There is also no lock on the revolver. Besides using the clips you can still load loose rounds, speedloaders or use speed strips to feed the little 15oz beast. MSRP is $640 which is only $34 more than a standard 442/642 (with or without the ILS).

Helen Piquette at Smith and Wesson informed me that I would get one of the very first ones produced as this one was shipped on 30 June 2010. I started my two week leave on the 1st of July then back to Astan. Thanks Helen and Smith or I would have waited another 6 mos before getting it. As you can see in the photos the moon clips. I fired the gun several times on my backyard range over the last two days of my leave. Gun was very controlable (previous 442 owner of 15 years) and very nice DAO trigger. Fit and finish was up to Smiths standards. No surprises on the range except for the very nice trigger pull. The moon clips can be a chore loading the last and demooning that first round however. I'll make a tool to help that job later.

My son (also US Army) had brought down from Ft Carson Co. his wifes NIB Charter Arms Pink Lady and I gave her my one and only HKS speedloader and IWB holster (he had his new G30 with him). The Smith was a better finished pistol over the Pink Lady. My son left the day before I picked up the 442 so no pics side by side. The 442 is in a Uncles Mike Kydex hoslter which is my woods holster. I keep the first round available with a shotshell for the copperheads around the house followed by Federal Hydra Shoks.

CD

Forum: Microguns

Targa / Excam GT27

Just received a Targa / Ecam / Tanfoglio GT 27 from a family friend. It's in good working order, and I shot a few rounds through it last weekend. Quite a fun little gun

I was hoping to date the gun- do the serial numbers mean anything related to date?

Also- most I have seen say "Tangfoglio.... Made in Italy"- Mine seems to have nothing there. Were they made down here in FL after 68?

Thanks for you help-

86YotaSR5

Forum: Show'em Off

Are Micro/Minis finished?

Hey guys have the micro/minis been phased out, is anybody out there still interested in Beretta 21's, tomcats, taurus pt22's, astra cubs, NAA minis, cobra derringers, butler derringers, rohm rg-10's etc, etc, etc, Drop us a line, let us know if the micro/minis are still relevant or has the current political state of the union moved everyone over to the larger personal defense line of handguns.

Forum: Microguns

I like mouse/micro guns

Hi everyone,

I have just left another forum and joined this one. The other forum "jumped" all over me for admitting that I carried a Colt Mustang. Evidently they had rules against people admitting they carried anything less then a full size pistol. My mistake, I guess.

Except, I don't think I made the mistake. My normal carry pistol is a Springfield Champion or a 3" Kimber - both in .45. However, Minnesota summers are hot, humid, and at times very uncomfortable. There are times I wear as little as the law will allow (or my 60 year old sense of decency will allow). On those days and others when appropriate, I carry my Colt Mustang with no regrets. I like the gun. It is accurate. It is easy to carry. Maybe most importantly, the only time I have ever had to protect my family a with a gun it happened to be with my Colt Mustang. It wasn't much of a "thing", but the mere presence of a gun, even a "mouse" gun, put an end to the problem.

Little .380's might not be the ultimate protection, but they aren't bad either. I like mine.

Forum: Microguns
